Questions & answers

Find the answer to your question

Can I install the heat pump myself?

The installation should be carried out by a qualified installer. The work includes the refrigerant system, mounting and electrical connections. Kylslaget can help you plan the work and clarify what needs to be prepared on site.

What should I prepare before the visit?

Make sure the installation area and the route to it are clear and accessible. If you bought the heat pump separately, it must be on site for the installation. Tell us in advance about the wall material, height, preferred location and whether an old heat pump needs to be removed.

What happens during the installation?

We review the placement, install the indoor and outdoor units, complete the pipework and connections included in the assignment, and check that the system works. The visit ends with a walkthrough of how to use the heat pump. The exact scope is stated in your order.

When is an air-to-air heat pump cost-effective?

That depends on the building's heating demand, current heating system, layout, electricity price and how the heat pump is used. A relevant comparison needs to reflect your home and the total cost of the heat pump and installation. Contact us to discuss your circumstances.

What is the difference between air conditioning and an air-to-air heat pump?

An air-to-air heat pump is used to heat indoor air and many models can also provide cooling. Air conditioning is a general term for systems focused on cooling. The available operating modes are listed in the documentation for your model.

What installation warranty applies?

Refer to the terms of your order. Warranties may differ between the product, installation and retailer, and special terms may include service requirements. Contact us with your order details and we will help you find the correct information for your purchase.

What is included in a standard air-to-air heat pump installation?

The scope is stated in your order. Check the included pipe length, core drilling, brackets, electrical connection and any removal of an old heat pump. Feel free to send us photos of the installation area in advance so we can identify anything that may need to be added.

Where should the indoor and outdoor units be placed?

The indoor unit needs to distribute air to the rooms you want to heat. The outdoor unit needs unobstructed airflow and a position where water can drain away. We review the placement with you and account for service access, sound and the model's clearance requirements.

Can I box in or conceal the indoor unit after installation?

Do not box in the indoor unit or place cabinets, shelves, curtains or other obstructions close to it without first checking the model's clearance requirements and consulting an installer. The indoor unit needs to draw in a large volume of room air and discharge it freely into the space. Restricted airflow can reduce heating and cooling performance, increase energy use, cause additional noise and lead to operating problems. There must also be enough room to clean the filters, service the unit and open its cover. If you are planning joinery around the unit, send us a drawing and measurements before building. If it has already been boxed in, send photos and the model details so we can help assess what needs to change.

Do I need to arrange the electrical connection before installation?

Tell us what electrical connection is available near the planned location. Requirements vary by model and electrical work may need to be ordered separately. Check what is included with us before installation day so the right conditions are in place.

Can you replace my old air-to-air heat pump?

Contact us with the model details and photos of the existing installation. We can then assess the replacement and review removal, disposal and the new location. An existing installation does not automatically mean that every part can be reused.

How long does installation take, and do I need to be at home?

The time required depends on the placement and scope of the work. We confirm the plan before the visit. Arrange access to both the indoor and outdoor units and make sure someone can approve the placement and receive a walkthrough of the completed installation.

Which photos help you plan the installation?

Send overview photos of the room, the planned indoor-unit position and the façade where the outdoor unit will stand or be mounted. If possible, show the full route between the units. Also describe the wall material, height differences and any obstacles that cannot be seen in the photos.
